Haruka Sakura was shunned from a young age because of his unusual looks and poor social skills. Over time, the harsh treatment he faced shaped him into a skilled fighter—his only source of pride. Upon entering Furin High School, a place known more for valuing strength than academics, Sakura sets his sights on becoming the strongest.
Just a day before starting school, he gets into a street fight and unexpectedly teams up with some future classmates. Rather than rejecting him, they stand by his side, revealing that the school's true purpose is to protect the town of Makochi. Known as "Bofurin," the students see themselves as its guardians. Sakura is caught off guard by the town’s gratitude and struggles to accept their kindness.
Unused to receiving compassion, Sakura begins to confront his unease when Bofurin faces powerful foes. For the first time, he discovers what it means to fight not just for himself, but for others.
