Ichigo Kurosaki lives the life of a normal high school student—until a Hollow, a twisted spirit that preys on human souls, attacks his family. During the encounter, he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who is wounded while defending them. With no other way to protect his loved ones, Ichigo agrees to take on Rukia’s powers, transforming himself into a Soul Reaper.
When Rukia is unable to recover her abilities, Ichigo is left with the heavy responsibility of eliminating the Hollows haunting their town. He does not face this burden alone for long, as his friends—Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida—soon join him, each wielding unique powers of their own. As Ichigo and his allies adapt to their new roles and grow closer both in battle and everyday life, the young Soul Reaper begins to realize that Hollows are far from the only danger threatening the human world.

| Where Does the Anime End? | Where Should I Start Reading? |
|---|---|
|
The anime ended at episode 406 (40 from Thousand-Year Blood War), which corresponds to Chapter 654 (p. 6-15), 658 (p. 7-9), 659 (p. 7-10), 660 and 661 (p. 1-10) of the manga. The adaptation covers up to this point. |
After watching the anime, to continue the story in the manga, start reading from Chapter 661 (p. 11) (*), which corresponds to Volume 72 (collecting chapters 653 to 663). (*) Before picking up where the anime left off, I recommend reading chapter 658 (pages 10–17) and chapter 659 (pages 1–6), as these parts have not yet been adapted into the anime. |
Bleach Filler Arcs to Watch and Skip
Bleach has 4 filler arcs in total, these were not adapted from the manga, so we can skip them if we wish, but if we want to know if some of these arcs are good, then I will recommend the ones worth watching or the ones you can skip:
- The Bount Arc – 64-109: Not recommended. This arc consists of two parts: a first part of 28 episodes and a second part of 18 episodes, for a total of 46 episodes. This arc is exclusive to the anime and is not based on the original manga, so it does not have the quality of the script by the author of the original work, but what bothered the fans the most is the exaggerated number of episodes that were broadcast in his moment.
- The New Captain Shūsuke Amagai Arc – 168-189: Not recommended. This arc consists of 22 episodes. This arc, unlike what happened with the seasons starring the Bounts, this time does not seek to give continuity to the series, but rather a new story is interspersed whose characters do not appear or are mentioned in the following manga adaptations.
- Zanpakutō Unknown Tales Arc – 230-265: Recommended. This arc consists of 36 episodes. This arc, despite not seeming to have a place in the chronological axis of the series and narrating events completely apart from the manga story, is enjoyed because it tells us about a problem between the zanpakuto and the shinigami, they show us the personality and appearance of the swords, as well as the relationship it has with its bearers.
- Gotei 13 Invading Army Arc – 317-342: Recommended. This arc consists of 26 episodes. This is the best filler arc without a doubt, because it fits well into the story and above all that it gives a breather after the end of the Arrancar arc.
How to Watch Bleach in Order with Movies?
Bleach has 4 movies and 2 ovas, which do not have continuity in the canonical story, but its chronological order can be known, this through the characters that appear, the abilities and growth. Therefore, the order to watch the bleach movies and ovas is as follows:
- Bleach: The first thing we have to watch is the first part of the anime that has 366 episodes, it adapts from chapter 1 to 479 of the manga. This anime also has 4 movies and 2 ovules, but they are not necessary to watch, but if you want to see them, this is their chronological order within the anime:
- OVA 1: Bleach: Memories in the Rain: We see it after episode 9, but it’s optional since this is a pilot episode, it’s a special version of episodes 8-9, and it was made before the anime premiered in Japan.
- OVA 2: Bleach: The Sealed Sword Frenzy: We watch it after episode 63. It was shown on the Bleach Jump Festa 2005 Anime Tour. It seems to take place shortly after the Soul Society Saga.
- Movie 1: Memories of Nobody: We watch it after episode 109. It relates that in the City of Karakura, a series of unidentified spirits have appeared, while in Soul Society it is reflected in the real world. A mysterious shinigami named Senna has appeared before Ichigo along with a man named Ganryu, who leads a group of people named Dark Ones.
- Movie 2: Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion: We watch it after episode 153. It begins when a valuable artifact known as the “King’s Seal” (Oin) is stolen by a mysterious group, when they are transferring it to Soul Society. Tōshirō Hitsugaya, the captain of the Tenth Division, who was assigned to carry the seal, had fought the leader of the group of thieves and a little later mysteriously disappeared, remaining as the culprit.
- Movie 3: Bleach: Fade to Black: We watch it after episode 198. All the members of Soul Society suffer a fit of amnesia and now no one has any memories of Rukia and Ichigo. The darkness in Rukia’s past is revealed and the “truth” that is locked within her memories.
- Movie 4: Bleach: The Hell Verse: We watch it after episode 299. Ichigo and his friends enter Hell, the place where hollows who committed misdeeds while they were human are sent. Once there they are guided by Kokutō to rescue Yuzu and save the world from the prisoners of hell.
- Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
This is the second part of the anime, consisting of 13 episodes. It adapts chapters 480 to 542 of the manga. The original Japanese title is Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen. - Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Separation
This is the third part of the anime, with a total of 13 episodes. It covers manga chapters 542 to 609. The original Japanese title is Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Ketsubetsu-tan. - Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Conflict
Serving as the fourth part of the anime, this installment has 14 episodes and adapts chapters 609 to 661 of the manga. Its original Japanese title is Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Soukoku-tan. - Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity
This will be the final part of the anime and is scheduled to premiere in July 2026. It will adapt the concluding portion of the manga, covering chapters 661 through 686. The original Japanese title will be Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Kashin-tan.
