Spontaneous Human Combustion is a terrifying phenomenon that has tormented humanity for years, randomly turning ordinary people into violent, flame-engulfed beings known as Infernals. These creatures represent the first generation of combustion victims, while later generations evolved into pyrokinetics—humans who can control and manipulate fire without losing their humanity. To suppress the Infernal threat and uncover the truth behind this disaster, the Tokyo Armed Forces, Fire Defense Agency, and the Holy Church of Sol formed a unified response: the Special Fire Force.

Eager to prove himself, Shinra Kusakabe, a third-generation pyrokinetic nicknamed Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, joins Special Fire Force Company 8. Driven by a desire to become a hero, Shinra dedicates himself to the brigade’s mission of extinguishing Infernals and peacefully laying their souls to rest, hoping to save lives from the terror of the flames.

Yet reality quickly shatters his idealism. The Fire Force is divided by internal conflicts, Infernal incidents are growing increasingly abnormal across Tokyo, and a mysterious organization claims to hold the truth behind the fire that killed Shinra’s family twelve years ago. Surrounded by enemies both within and beyond the Fire Force, Shinra must fight through blazing battles and deep conspiracies to uncover the truth behind the flames that have shaped his destiny.

When a portal to another realm suddenly materializes on Earth, Mikado City finds itself overrun by enigmatic entities known as “Neighbors,” malevolent beings impervious to conventional weaponry. In response to this invasion, the Border Defense Agency is established to counter the Neighbor threat using specialized armaments called “Triggers.” Despite the passage of several years since the portal’s emergence, Neighbors remain a persistent danger, prompting Border members to remain vigilant in safeguarding the planet.

In this tense environment, trainees like Osamu Mikumo are forbidden from deploying their Triggers outside of headquarters. However, when a new student, shrouded in mystery, is ensnared by bullies and led into a restricted zone, they come under attack by Neighbors. Left with no alternative, Osamu is compelled to take action in defense of what he believes is right. To his astonishment, the transfer student Yuuma Kuga effortlessly dispatches the aliens, unveiling his true identity as a humanoid Neighbor in disguise.

In a distant era, humanity teeters on the brink of annihilation due to colossal creatures known as Klaxosaurs, compelling the surviving populace to seek sanctuary within colossal fortress cities named Plantations. Here, youngsters are groomed to command immense mechas dubbed FranXX, the only known countermeasure against the Klaxosaurs, operating in male-female pairs. Bred solely for this purpose, these youths are ignorant of the world beyond their confines, finding purpose solely in defending their species.

Hiro, harboring aspirations of becoming a FranXX pilot, finds himself disillusioned and lacking in self-assurance following an unsuccessful aptitude assessment. Shunning his class’ graduation ceremony, Hiro withdraws to a serene forest lake, where he encounters an enigmatic girl sporting two horns protruding from her head. Identifying herself by the moniker Zero Two, associated with a notorious FranXX pilot dubbed the “Partner Killer,” she crosses paths with Hiro. Before Hiro can process this peculiar encounter, the tranquility is shattered by a sudden Klaxosaur assault on the Plantation. Zero Two leaps into action with her FranXX, but the skirmish leaves her mecha heavily damaged, crashing near Hiro’s location. Discovering her partner lifeless, Zero Two implores Hiro to join her in piloting the mecha, and together they effortlessly vanquish the Klaxosaur in the ensuing battle. With a newfound ally at his side, Hiro finds himself presented with an opportunity for redemption from his past setbacks, yet the path ahead is fraught with uncertainties and potential sacrifices.

The duo is joined by the alluring con artist Faye Valentine, the eccentric child Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV, and Ein, a bioengineered Welsh Corgi.

As the Bebop crew forges connections and endeavors to apprehend a diverse array of criminals, their lives are disrupted by a threat from Spike’s history. Amidst the unraveling of a rival’s maniacal scheme, Spike is confronted with the choice between a life with his newfound family or seeking revenge for old wounds.
