Ranma Saotome is an exceptionally talented martial artist and a prodigy of the Saotome “Anything-Goes” style. During a training trip to China, he and his father suffer a bizarre accident after falling into a cursed spring. As a result, Ranma is doomed to transform into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water, and only hot water can return him to his male form.
His life becomes even more chaotic when he learns that his father has arranged his engagement to one of Soun Tendo’s three daughters to preserve the future of the Tendo dojo. Even after discovering Ranma’s unusual curse, Soun insists on honoring the agreement and selects his youngest daughter, Akane—an accomplished martial artist who is especially known for her strong dislike of men.
Ranma ½ centers on the comedic escapades of Ranma and Akane as they face off against numerous rivals, cross paths with new romantic interests, and constantly find new reasons to clash, all while their awkward engagement looms over them.
