Because of her resemblance to the eerie Sadako from The Ring, Sawako Kuronuma is saddled with the nickname “Sadako” and often misunderstood as creepy and ill-intentioned, despite her gentle and shy personality. Wishing to make friends and experience an ordinary school life, Sawako finds herself drawn to the bright and approachable Shouta Kazehaya, the most popular boy in her class. From the moment they meet, she admires Kazehaya’s ability to naturally connect with others and hopes to become more like him.

When Kazehaya arranges a class-wide test of courage and personally invites her to join, Sawako takes it as a chance to grow closer to her classmates, beginning with Ayane Yano and Chizuru Yoshida. As she experiences new interactions and emotions, Sawako comes to believe that meeting Kazehaya has helped her change for the better. What she does not realize is that her quiet presence has begun to change Kazehaya as well.
