While many teenage girls try to highlight their femininity, Futaba Yoshioka intentionally acts in ways meant to drive away any potential admirers. After being shunned by her female classmates in middle school for attracting too much attention from boys, she becomes determined to avoid repeating that experience in high school by behaving loudly, awkwardly, and anything but graceful.

Despite her attempts to bury the past, Futaba still holds onto precious memories of the boy she once liked, Kou Tanaka. Those feelings were cut short when he suddenly stopped coming to school and disappeared without explanation. When Futaba later discovers that Kou has returned—now going by the name Kou Mabuchi—her heart begins to race once more. However, he is no longer the gentle boy she remembers; he has grown taller, more confident, and emotionally distant, making him much harder to approach.

Believing that being true to her old self might draw Kou’s attention again, Futaba faces a difficult choice. Is she willing to step out of her carefully built comfort zone and risk losing her friends in order to rediscover who she really is?

Where to start Blue Spring Ride manga after anime?

Where Does the Anime End? Where Should I Start Reading?

The anime ended at episode 13 of Season 1, which corresponds to Chapter 16 and 17 (p. 1-19) of the manga. The adaptation covers up to this point.

(*) Both episodes 0 and 13 are considered OVAs and may be grouped with the title ‘Ao Haru Ride: Unwritten‘, I mention this because on some platforms the number of episodes may vary, it may only have 12 excluding the OVAs.

After watching the anime, to continue the story in the manga, start reading from Chapter 17 (p. 20), which corresponds to Volume 5 (collecting chapters 16 to 19).
