Kou Yamori is an ordinary middle schooler who struggles to understand the meaning of love. Unwilling to conform to everyday expectations, he eventually stops attending school. His idleness leads to persistent insomnia, prompting him to wander the quiet streets at night.

During one of his nightly strolls, Kou meets a peculiar girl named Nazuna Nanakusa. She believes sleeplessness stems from dissatisfaction with one’s day, and that people cannot rest until they release their hidden desires. Offering to help with his insomnia, Nazuna takes Kou to her home and persuades him to lie beside her. When Kou only pretends to fall asleep, she suddenly sinks her teeth into his neck—revealing that she is a vampire.

Kou assumes the bite will turn him into one as well, but the process isn’t so simple. To become a vampire, he must first be bitten by someone he truly loves. Embracing the chance to escape his monotonous life, Kou sets himself a new purpose: to fall in love with Nazuna and ultimately join her world as a vampire.

Where to start Call of the Night manga after anime?

Where Does the Anime End? Where Should I Start Reading?

The anime ended at episode 25 (12 of Season 2) (*), which corresponds to Chapter 97 of the manga. The adaptation covers up to this point.

(*) NOTE: The second season of the anime practically left out Lira Echigo, who in the manga develops a temporary crush on Kou Yamori. If you want to discover everything this character contributes, I recommend reading chapters 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 83, 84, 85, and 98.

After watching the anime, to continue the story in the manga, start reading from Chapter 99, which corresponds to Volume 10 (collecting chapters 90 to 99).
