Starting his first year of high school, Raidou has a simple goal: to make friends—beginning with the petite, quiet, and soft-spoken Reina Aharen, who happens to sit right beside him in class. Unknown to Raidou, Reina feels the same way, but she struggles with a major obstacle. Shy and socially awkward, she has no sense of how close or distant she should be when interacting with others.
Because Reina cannot properly judge personal space, even the most basic interactions between the two become surprisingly difficult, making it hard for their unusual friendship to take root. Still, despite the many trivial yet frustrating challenges they face, the overly imaginative Raidou is determined to do everything he can to befriend the enigmatic Reina.
